Although our shortest course distance offering, the DCC Bluff Top Challenge takes you through some of the best terrain Door County has to offer.
Your journey starts with a flat and picturesque 15-mile waterfront ride along the eastern shore of Green Bay. A satisfying breakfast in Murphy Park at the halfway point is a welcome retreat
At mile 18, things get very interesting and challenging with a steep climb straight up the bluff at Monument Point. Once on high ground, your journey undulates and weaves through the famous cherry and apple orchards in Sevastopol, leading to a rewarding 4-mile long descent to the finish line arch in Sturgeon Bay. If you’re not up for the climb, simply backtrack along the water following the flat and smooth asphalt route, just the way you rode out. This is a great option for families.

Baileys Harbor Recreational Park is a spacious greenspace, with plenty of elbow room to refuel and recharge. Typically reserved for afternoon Door County League Baseball games or a DC Destroyers Semi-Pro football game, to the DCC rider, it’s Bonker’s Paradise. For years, Rec Park has been a welcome sight as our riders usually start to feel the miles pile up and start to lose momentum or “bonk.” The cure is a rest stop loaded with fruit, salty snacks, protein and the ever-popular dill pickle juice jolt! The “Big Dog” of our Big Ride experience is our 100-mile classic Door County Century course. Imitated, but never duplicated, the original Door County Century ride is the official cycling event of the autumn season.
In addition to all the amenities and treasures along our shorter courses, our classic century distance route reserves two very special and dedicated rest stops at Peninsula State Park and Sister Bay for only our longest distance riders.
At Peninsula State Park, riders stop to enjoy a unique lunch of Caprese Skewers at mile 32, while at mile 43, it’s the much-anticipated Strawberry Shortcake dessert stop in Sister Bay. Points go to the riders who locate the local rooftop goats. Hint: look for the grass roof.
Our 100-milers reconnect with the 70-mile course, just north of Baileys Harbor. With the distance come the spoils and the bragging rights! On to Sturgeon Bay, I say.
